Why Commercial Dairies Choose Plate HTST

Engineered for high-efficiency throughput, low energy consumption, and total health compliance.

>70%

Thermal Energy Recovery

Incoming cold raw product is pre-heated directly by outgoing pasteurized hot product inside the regeneration plates, drastically cutting boiler steam and ice water costs.

3,000L/H

Continuous Flow Rate

Processes fluid milk and beverages continuously without batch waiting times, directly feeding automated filling lines or downstream storage silos.

Validated

Automatic Flow Diversion

Integrated pneumatic three-way diversion valve automatically redirects under-heated product back to the balance tank if holding temperature drops below specified setpoints.

Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) & Planning Guide

A continuous HTST plate unit is a major OpEx saver for commercial dairies. Evaluate utility integration before procurement.

1. How Heat Regeneration Reduces Utility Consumption

In a single-stage system, heating cold raw milk (4°C) up to pasteurization temperature (85°C) and chilling it back down requires 100% external boiler fuel and ice water chiller power.

In a NexAgri Plate HTST unit with >70% heat regeneration, hot milk leaving the holding tube passes directly counter-current to incoming cold raw milk across thin stainless steel plates. The hot milk pre-heats the cold milk to ~65°C for free while pre-cooling itself. You only pay for boiler steam to raise the temperature from 65°C to 85°C.

2. CIP Cleanability & Anti-Fouling Plate Maintenance

Milk proteins and minerals can scorch onto plate surfaces if flow velocity is insufficient or temperature control fluctuates. Burned milk deposits restrict flow channels and destroy heat exchanger efficiency.

NexAgri plates utilize high-turbulence corrugation patterns combined with automated CIP chemical dosing cycles (80-85°C caustic and acid washes) that scour internal surfaces clean without manual plate pack disassembly.

3. Food Health Inspection & Chart Recording Compliance

Government health inspectors require tamper-proof evidence that every liter of product maintained proper holding temperatures. NexAgri HTST systems integrate digital paperless chart recorders that continuously log holding tube temperature, flow rate, and diversion valve status, satisfying international export and commercial dairy compliance standards.

Technical Frequently Asked Questions

Expert technical answers to help you plan your commercial HTST plate unit installation.

How does the 70%+ heat regeneration section save utility costs?
In a Plate HTST unit, cold incoming raw milk (4°C) flows on one side of thin stainless steel plates while hot pasteurized milk (85°C) flows in the opposite direction on the adjacent side. Heat transfers counter-currently through the steel wall, raising the raw milk temperature to ~65°C without consuming any boiler steam, while simultaneously pre-cooling the hot milk before it reaches the chiller section.
Do I need a steam boiler to operate a Plate HTST unit?
For industrial capacities of 2,000 L/H to 3,000+ L/H, connecting to a facility steam boiler provides the most energy-efficient heating. However, for standard 500L to 1,000L/H skids, NexAgri can configure the unit with high-power electric hot water circulating modules, eliminating the requirement for a dedicated steam boiler.
Can an inline homogenizer or cream separator be integrated into the plate unit?
Yes. Our plate heat exchangers are engineered with intermediate connection ports. Milk is routed out of the regeneration section at optimal pre-heating temperatures (60°C–65°C) into an inline homogenizer or centrifugal cream separator, then returned directly to the final heating section of the plate pack.
How does the Flow Diversion Valve prevent unpasteurized milk from passing?
A pneumatic three-way Flow Diversion Valve is installed immediately after the holding tube. High-precision RTD temperature sensors continuously measure milk temperature leaving the holding tube. If the temperature drops even 0.1°C below setpoint (e.g. 72°C), the valve actuates in milliseconds, sending the product back to the balance tank for re-heating.
How do you clean and sanitize the internal corrugated plates?
NexAgri HTST units are fully compatible with automated Clean-In-Place (CIP) systems. Highly turbulent flow velocity generated across the corrugated AISI 316L plates (Ra ≤ 0.4μm) allows hot caustic and acid wash solutions to thoroughly dissolve protein and fat deposits without opening the plate frame.
How do you handle overseas installation and commissioning for HTST units?
For commercial food processing installations, NexAgri dispatches senior mechanical and automation engineers directly to your plant. They supervise sanitary piping connections, integrate steam/chilled water lines, perform water-run thermal validation, execute CIP commissioning, and provide comprehensive operational training for your plant technicians.
