When planning a dairy feeding system, the choice is often presented as scheduled feeding versus free-choice feeding.

But in a modern dairy barn, the two are not necessarily opposites.

Where Equipment Makes a Difference

Good feeding management is partly nutritional and partly physical.

The ration can be perfectly formulated on paper and still perform poorly if the barn makes it difficult for cows to eat.
